I’m a researcher and educator working at the intersection of bilingualism, second language learning, and child development. I hold a PhD in Psychology from the University of Birmingham, where my research examined how early language learning at school impacts attentional control, divergent thinking, and perspective-taking skills in young children. I also investigated the mechanisms behind bilingual children’s advantage in taking the perspective of a conversational partner. I shared these findings in two peer-reviewed studies published in Bilingualism: Language and Cognition — a top journal in the field.
Alongside my research, I’ve spent over twenty years teaching in primary schools in the UK, Italy, and Germany. I currently teach Italian as a foreign language and lead CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) provision at St. John’s CE Primary school in London, posted through the Italian Consulate General.
Working across both research and the classroom means I care as much about what the evidence shows as about what genuinely works with young learners day to day. I started this blog to bridge that gap: to translate academic research on bilingualism, language learning, and cognitive development into something genuinely useful for teachers and parents navigating multilingual childhoods.
I’m also an active contributor to open science initiatives like FORRT and the Open Science Framework, and I believe strongly that good research should be both rigorous and reachable.
